Most of the story missions actually take place in the catacombs beneath the city, creating a very different atmosphere, that almost edges into survival horror territory at times. Or at least that’s the case above ground. It’s set in what is today Saint-Denis, in the northern suburbs of Paris, and as you can imagine this means it looks very similar to the original game – except obscured by a permanent layer of fog. Dead Kings takes place on a brand new map that is roughly a quarter the size of the existing Paris area.
